Only for Organic – Mustard Seeds 🌿🌾
Mustard is a versatile plant grown for its flavorful seeds and nutritious greens. It thrives in cooler temperatures and is easy to cultivate in home gardens. Mustard leaves are rich in vitamins A, C, and K, while the seeds are commonly used for spices, oils, and pickling.
How to Grow Mustard:
✔ Sowing & Germination:
- Sowing Depth: Plant seeds ¼ to ½ inch deep in well-prepared soil.
- Spacing: Keep 4-6 inches between plants and 10-12 inches between rows.
- Ideal Temperature: Germinates best at 15°C - 25°C.
- Germination Time: Seeds sprout within 4-7 days under ideal conditions.
✔ Growing Conditions:
- Sunlight: Prefers full sun to partial shade (at least 4-6 hours of sunlight).
- Soil Type: Thrives in well-drained, fertile soil with a pH of 5.5-7.0.
- Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, but avoid waterlogging.
✔ Care & Maintenance:
- Thinning: Once seedlings are 2-3 inches tall, thin them out to prevent overcrowding.
- Fertilization: Use organic compost or a balanced fertilizer every 2-3 weeks.
- Weeding: Regularly remove weeds to prevent competition for nutrients.
- Pest & Disease Control: Keep an eye out for aphids and flea beetles; use neem oil for natural protection.
✔ Harvesting:
- For Leaves: Pick tender leaves 30-40 days after sowing.
- For Seeds: Ready for harvest in 90-100 days when seed pods turn yellowish-brown. Cut the stalks and allow them to dry before collecting the seeds.
